   5 <p>I first got to know I.F. Stone when I came across an article by Jon
   6 Schwarz on The Intercept
   7 <a href="https://theintercept.com/2015/05/07/new-documentary-legacy-f-stone/">about
   8 his extraordinary contribution to investigative journalism in
   9 USA</a>. The article is about a new documentary in two parts
  10 (<a href="https://vimeo.com/123974841">part one is 12 minutes</a> and
  11 <a href="https://vimeo.com/123974842">part two is 30 minutes</a>), and
  12 I found both truly fascinating.  It is amazing what he was able to
  13 find by digging up public sources and government papers.  He
  14 documented lots of government abuse and cover ups, and I find
  15 <a href="http://www.ifstone.org/weekly.php">his weekly news letters</a>
  16 inspiring to read even today.</p>

  23 <p>His starting point was that reporters should not assume governments
  24 and corporations are telling the truth, but verify all their claims as
  25 much as possible.  I wonder how many Norwegian reporters can be said
  26 to follow the principles of I. F. Stone.  They are definitely in short
  27 supply.  If you, like me half a year ago, have never heard of him,
  28 check him out.</p>
