30 mottaker via tjenestens websider.
33 korrespondanse.
35 du befinner deg (vha. tilkoblingens IP-adresse), hvilket utstyr du
40 integritet i dagens norske samfunn.

78 <description><p
>So, Cambridge Analytica is getting some well deserved criticism for
79 (mis)using information it got from Facebook about
50 million people,
80 mostly in the USA. What I find a bit surprising, is how little
81 criticism Facebook is getting for handing the information over to
82 Cambridge Analytica and others in the first place. And what about the
83 people handing their private and personal information to Facebook?
84 And last, but not least, what about the government offices who are
85 handing information about the visitors of their web pages to Facebook?
86 No-one who looked at the terms of use of Facebook should be surprised
87 that information about peoples interests, political views, personal
88 lifes and whereabouts would be sold by Facebook.
</p
>
90 <p
>What I find to be the real scandal is the fact that Facebook is
91 selling your personal information, not that one of the buyers used it
92 in a way Facebook did not approve when exposed. It is well known that
93 Facebook is selling out their users privacy, but a scandal
94 nevertheless. Of course the information provided to them by Facebook
95 would be misused by one of the parties given access to personal
96 information about the millions of Facebook users. Collected
97 information will be misused sooner or later. The only way to avoid
98 such misuse, is to not collect the information in the first place. If
99 you do not want Facebook to hand out information about yourself for
100 the use and misuse of its customers, do not give Facebook the
101 information.
</p
>
103 <p
>Personally, I would recommend to completely remove your Facebook
104 account, and take back some control of your personal information.

110 to get to
<a href=

111 real account deletion screen
</a

112 would not trust the information to really be deleted (who knows,
113 perhaps NSA, GCHQ and FRA already got a copy), but it might reduce the
114 exposure a bit.

116 <p

140 tid.
Blodprøven lagres i dag i inntil seks år.

223 proof reading is almost done, and only the second and third proof
224 reading remains. We will also need to translate the

225 create a book cover. Once it is done we will publish the book on
226 paper, as well as in PDF, ePub and possibly Mobi formats.
</p

228 <p
>The book itself originates as a manuscript on Google Docs, is
229 downloaded as ODT from there and converted to Markdown using pandoc.
230 The Markdown is modified by a script before is converted to DocBook

233 PO file is then combined with the earlier mentioned DocBook file to
234 create a translated DocBook file, which finally is given to dblatex to
235 create the final PDF. The end result is a set of editions of the
236 manuscript, one English and one for each of the translations.

349 I was a bit surprised with what I discovered when I started to look.
351 <a href=
"https://www.videolan.org/vlc/releases/
3.0.0.html
">the release
352 notes
</a
> did not help answering this question, so I started searching
353 the web. I found several news articles from
2013, most of them
354 tracing the news from Torrentfreak
355 (
"<a href=https://torrentfreak.com/open-source-giant-vlc-mulls-bittorrent-support-
130211/
">Open
356 Source Giant VLC Mulls BitTorrent Streaming Support
</a
>"), about a
357 initiative to pay someone to create a VLC patch for bittorrent
358 support. To figure out what happend with this initiative, I headed
359 over to the #videolan IRC channel and asked if there were some bug or
360 feature request tickets tracking such feature. I got an answer from
361 lead developer Jean-Babtiste Kempf, telling me that there was a patch
362 but neither he nor anyone else knew where it was. So I searched a bit
363 more, and came across an independent
364 <a href=
"https://github.com/johang/vlc-bittorrent
">VLC plugin to add
365 bittorrent support
</a
>, created by Johan Gunnarsson in
2016/
2017.
366 Again according to Jean-Babtiste, this is not the patch he was talking
369 <p
>Anyway, to test the plugin, I made a working Debian package from
370 the git repository, with some modifications. After installing this
371 package, I could stream videos from
372 <a href=
"https://www.archive.org/
">The Internet Archive
</a
> using VLC
373 commands like this:
</p
>
375 <p
><blockquote
><pre
>
376 vlc https://archive.org/download/LoveNest/LoveNest_archive.torrent
377 </pre
></blockquote
></p
>
379 <p
>The plugin is supposed to handle magnet links too, but since The
380 Internet Archive do not have magnet links and I did not want to spend
381 time tracking down another source, I have not tested it. It can take
382 quite a while before the video start playing without any indication of
383 what is going on from VLC. It took
10-
20 seconds when I measured it.
384 Some times the plugin seem unable to find the correct video file to
385 play, and show the metadata XML file name in the VLC status line. I
386 have no idea why.
</p
>
388 <p
>I have created a
<a href=
"https://bugs.debian.org/
890360">request for
389 a new package in Debian (RFP)
</a
> and
390 <a href=
"https://github.com/johang/vlc-bittorrent/issues/
1">asked if
391 the upstream author is willing to help make this happen
</a
>. Now we
392 wait to see what come out of this. I do not want to maintain a
393 package that is not maintained upstream, nor do I really have time to
394 maintain more packages myself, so I might leave it at this. But I
395 really hope someone step up to do the packaging, and hope upstream is
396 still maintaining the source. If you want to help, please update the
397 RFP request or the upstream issue.
