  31         <p>As my regular readers probably remember, the last year I published
  32 a French and Norwegian translation of the classic
  33 <a href="http://www.free-culture.cc/">Free Culture book</a> by the
  34 founder of the Creative Commons movement, Lawrence Lessig.  A bit less
  35 known is the fact that due to the way I created the translations,
  36 using docbook and po4a, I also recreated the English original.  And
  37 because I already had created a new the PDF edition, I published it
  38 too.  The revenue from the books are sent to the Creative Commons
  39 Corporation.  In other words, I do not earn any money from this
  40 project, I just earn the warm fuzzy feeling that the text is available
  41 for a wider audience and more people can learn why the Creative
  42 Commons is needed.</p>

  44 <p>Today, just for fun, I had a look at the sales number over at
  45 Lulu.com, which take care of payment, printing and shipping.  Much to
  46 my surprise, the English edition is selling better than both the
  47 French and Norwegian edition, despite the fact that it has been
  48 available in English since it was first published.  In total, 24 paper
  49 books was sold for USD $19.99 between 2016-01-01 and 2016-07-31:</p>

  58 <p>The books are available both from Lulu.com and from large book
  59 stores like Amazon and Barnes&Noble.  Most revenue, around $10 per
  60 book, is sent to the Creative Commons project when the book is sold
  61 directly by Lulu.com.  The other channels give less revenue.  The
  62 summary from Lulu tell me 10 books was sold via the Amazon channel, 10
  63 via Ingram (what is this?) and 4 directly by Lulu.  And Lulu.com tells
  64 me that the revenue sent so far this year is USD $101.42.  No idea
  65 what kind of sales numbers to expect, so I do not know if that is a
  66 good amount of sales for a 10 year old book or not.  But it make me
  67 happy that the buyers find the book, and I hope they enjoy reading it
  68 as much as I did.</p>

 142 Culture</a> book by Lawrence Lessig is now available for sale on
 143 Lulu.com.  Once I have formally verified my proof reading copy, which
 144 should be in the mail, the paperback edition should be available in
 145 book stores like Amazon and Barnes & Noble too.</p>

 147 <p>This French edition, Culture Libre, is the work of the
 148 <a href="http://dblatex.sourceforge.net/">dblatex</a> developer Benoît
 149 Guillon, who created the PO file from the initial translation
 150 available from
 151 <a href="http://www.wikilivres.ca/wiki/Culture_libre">the Wikilivres
 152 wiki pages</a> and completed and corrected the translation to match
 153 the original docbook edition my project is using, as well as
 154 coordinated the proof reading of the final result.  I believe the end
 155 result look great, but I am biased and do not read French.  In
 156 addition to the paperback edition, the book is available in PDF, EPUB
 157 and Mobi format from the github project page linked to above.</p>

 159 <p>When enabling book store distribution on Lulu.com, I had to nearly
 160 triple the price to allow the book stores some profit.  I also had to
 161 accept that I will get some revenue when a book is sold via Lulu.com.
 162 But because of the non-commercial clause in the book license
 163 (CC-BY-NC), this might be a problem.  To bypass the problem I
 164 discussed how to handle the revenue with the author, and we agreed
 165 that the revenue for these editions go to the
 166 <a href="https://creativecommons.org/">Creative Commons non-profit
 167 Corporation</a> who handle donations to the Creative Commons project.
 168 So far they have earned around USD 70 on sales of the
 169 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/shop/lawrence-lessig/free-culture/paperback/product-22440520.html">English</a>
 170 and
 171 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/shop/lawrence-lessig/fri-kultur/paperback/product-22441576.html">Norwegian
 172 Bokmål</a> editions, according to Lulu.com.  They will get the revenue
 173 for the French edition too.  Their revenue is higher if you buy the
 174 book directly from Lulu.com instead of via a book store, so I
 175 recommend you buy directly from Lulu.com.</p>

 276 <p>In 2004, as the <a href="https://creativecommons.org/">Creative Commons
 277 movement</a> gained momentum, its creator Lawrence Lessig wrote the
 278 book <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Culture_(book)">Free
 279 Culture</a> to explain the problems with increasing copyright
 280 regulation and suggest some solutions.  I read the book back then and
 281 was very moved by it.  Reading the book inspired me and changed the
 282 way I looked on copyright law, and I would love it if more people
 283 would read it too.</p>

 285 <p>Because of this, I decided in the summer of 2012 to translate it to
 286 Norwegian Bokmål and publish it for those of my friends and family
 287 that prefer to read books in Norwegian.  I translated the book using
 288 docbook and a gettext PO file, and a byproduct of this process is a
 289 new edition of the English original.  I've been in touch with the
 290 author during by work, and he said it was fine with him if I also
 291 published an English version.  So I decided to do so.  Today, I made
 292 this edition

 350 developer of the dblatex docbook processor, Benoît Guillon, decided a
 351 to try to create a French version of the book.  He started with the
 352 French translation available from the
 353 <a href="http://www.wikilivres.ca/wiki/Culture_libre">Wikilivres wiki
 354 pages</a>, and wrote a program to convert it into a PO file, allowing
 355 the translation to be integrated into the po4a based framework I use
 356 to create the Norwegian translation from the English edition.  We meet
 357 on the <a href="irc://irc.freenode.net/%23dblatex">#dblatex IRC
 358 channel</a> to discuss the work.  If you want to help create a French
 359 edition, check out
 360 <a href="https://github.com/marsgui/free-culture-lessig">his git

 384         <p>Creating a good looking book cover proved harder than I expected.
 385 I wanted to create a cover looking similar to the original cover of
 386 the
 387 <a href="https://github.com/petterreinholdtsen/free-culture-lessig">Free
 388 Culture</a> book we are translating to Norwegian, and I wanted it in
 389 vector format for high resolution printing.  But my inkscape knowledge
 390 were not nearly good enough to pull that off.

 392 <p>But thanks to the great inkscape community, I was able to wrap up
 393 the cover yesterday evening.  I asked on the
 394 <a href="irc://irc.freenode.net/%23inkscape">#inkscape IRC channel</a>
 395 on Freenode for help and clues, and Marc Jeanmougin (Mc-) volunteered
 396 to try to recreate it based on the PDF of the cover from the HTML
 397 version.  Not only did he create a
 398 <a href="https://marc.jeanmougin.fr/share/copy1.svg ">SVG document with
 399 the original and his vector version side by side</a>, he even provided
 400 an <a href="https://marc.jeanmougin.fr/share/out-1.ogv">instruction
 401 video</a> explaining how he did it</a>.  But the instruction video is
 402 not easy to follow for an untrained inkscape user. The video is a
 403 recording on how he did it, and he is obviously very experienced as
 404 the menu selections are very quick and he mentioned on IRC that he did
 405 use some keyboard shortcuts that can't be seen on the video, but it
 406 give a good idea about the inkscape operations to use to create the
 407 stripes with the embossed copyright sign in the center.</p>

 409 <p>I took his SVG file, copied the vector image and re-sized it to fit
 410 on the cover I was drawing.  I am happy with the end result, and the
 411 current english version look like this:</p>

 416 do.  I picked three quotes from the official site for the book, and
 417 hope it will work to trigger the interest of potential readers.  The
 418 Norwegian cover will look the same, but with the texts and bar code
 419 replaced with the Norwegian version.</p>

 421 <p>The book is very close to being ready for publication, and I expect
 422 to upload the final draft to Lulu in the next few days and order a
 423 final proof reading copy to verify that everything look like it should
 424 before allowing everyone to order their own copy of Free Culture, in
 425 English or Norwegian Bokmål.  I'm waiting to give the the productive
 426 proof readers a chance to complete their work.</p>

 448 translation of Free Culture I have been working on for the last few
 449 years arrived in the mail.  I had to fake a cover to get the interior
 450 printed, and the exterior of the book look awful, but that is
 451 irrelevant at this point.  I asked for a printed pocket book version
 452 to get an idea about the font sizes and paper format as well as how
 453 good the figures and images look in print, but also to test what the
 454 pocket book version would look like.  After receiving the 500 page
 455 pocket book, it became obvious to me that that pocket book size is too
 456 small for this book.  I believe the book is too thick, and several
 457 tables and figures do not look good in the size they get with that
 458 small page sizes.  I believe I will go with the 5.5x8.5 inch size
 459 instead.  A surprise discovery from the paper version was how bad the
 460 URLs look in print.  They are very hard to read in the colophon page.
 461 The URLs are red in the PDF, but light gray on paper.  I need to
 462 change the color of links somehow to look better.  But there is a
 463 printed book in my hand, and it feels great. :)</p>

 465 <p>Now I only need to fix the cover, wrap up the postscript with the
 466 store behind the book, and collect the last corrections from the proof
 467 readers before the book is ready for proper printing.  Cover artists
 468 willing to work for free and create a Creative Commons licensed vector
 469 file looking similar to the original is most welcome, as my skills as
 470 a graphics designer are mostly missing.</p>

 492 mostly done, and a volunteer proof reader was going to check the text
 493 on paper, it was time this summer to focus on formatting my translated
 494 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">docbook</a> based version of the
 495 <a href="http://free-culture.cc/">Free Culture</a> book by Lawrence
 496 Lessig.  I've been trying to get both docboox-xsl+fop and dblatex to
 497 give me a good looking PDF, but in the end I went with dblatex, because
 498 its Debian maintainer and upstream developer were responsive and very
 499 helpful in solving my formatting challenges.</p>

 501 <p>Last night, I finally managed to create a PDF that no longer made
 502 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/">Lulu.com</a> complain after uploading,
 503 and I ordered a text version of the book on paper.  It is lacking a
 504 proper book cover and is not tagged with the correct ISBN number, but
 505 should give me an idea what the finished book will look like.</p>

 507 <p>Instead of using Lulu, I did consider printing the book using
 508 <a href="http://www.createspace.com/">CreateSpace</a>, but ended up
 509 using Lulu because it had smaller book size options (CreateSpace seem
 510 to lack pocket book with extended distribution).  I looked for a
 511 similar service in Norway, but have not seen anything so far.  Please
 512 let me know if I am missing out on something here.</p>

 514 <p>But I still struggle to decide the book size.  Should I go for
 515 pocket book (4.25x6.875 inches / 10.8x17.5 cm) with 556 pages, Digest

 517 15.3x22.9 cm) with 280 pages?  Fewer pager give a cheaper book, and a
 518 smaller book is easier to carry around.  The test book I ordered was

 524 inkscape skills are not yet up to the task of replicating the original

 529 the same CC license as the book.  My artistic skills are not really up

 569 One of the features I want to get the structure similar to the
 570 original book is to typeset the footnotes as endnotes in the notes
 571 chapter.  Based on the
 572 <a href="https://bugs.debian.org/685063">feedback from the Debian
 573 maintainer and the dblatex developer</a>, I came up with this recipe I
 574 would like to share with you.  The proposal was to create a new LaTeX
 575 class file and add the LaTeX code there, but this is not always
 576 practical, when I want to be able to replace the class using a make
 577 file variable.  So my proposal misuses the latex.begindocument XSL
 578 parameter value, to get a small fragment into the correct location in
 579 the generated LaTeX File.</p>

 681 reading. :) More spell checking is needed, and several illustrations
 682 need to be cleaned up.  The work stopped up because I had to give
 683 priority to other projects the last year, and the progress graph of

 719         <p>The <a href="http://www.skolelinux.org/">Debian Edu / Skolelinux
 720 project</a> provide an instruction manual for teachers, system
 721 administrators and other users that contain useful tips for setting up
 722 and maintaining a Debian Edu installation.  This text is about how the
 723 text processing of this manual is handled in the project.</p>
 724
 725 <p>One goal of the project is to provide information in the native
 726 language of its users, and for this we need to handle translations.
 727 But we also want to make sure each language contain the same
 728 information, so for this we need a good way to keep the translations
 729 in sync.  And we want it to be easy for our users to improve the
 730 documentation, avoiding the need to learn special formats or tools to
 731 contribute, and the obvious way to do this is to make it possible to
 732 edit the documentation using a web browser.  We also want it to be
 733 easy for translators to keep the translation up to date, and give them
 734 help in figuring out what need to be translated. Here is the list of
 735 tools and the process we have found trying to reach all these
 736 goals.</p>

 738 <p>We maintain the authoritative source of our manual in the
 739 <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Documentation/Wheezy/">Debian
 740 wiki</a>, as several wiki pages written in English.  It consist of one
 741 front page with references to the different chapters, several pages
 742 for each chapter, and finally one "collection page" gluing all the
 743 chapters together into one large web page (aka
 744 <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Documentation/Wheezy/AllInOne">the
 745 AllInOne page</a>).  The AllInOne page is the one used for further
 746 processing and translations.  Thanks to the fact that the
 747 <a href="http://moinmo.in/">MoinMoin</a> installation on
 748 wiki.debian.org support exporting pages in
 749 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">the Docbook format</a>, we can fetch
 750 the list of pages to export using the raw version of the AllInOne
 751 page, loop over each of them to generate a Docbook XML version of the
 752 manual.  This process also download images and transform image
 753 references to use the locally downloaded images.  The generated
 754 Docbook XML files are slightly broken, so some post-processing is done
 755 using the <tt>documentation/scripts/get_manual</tt> program, and the
 756 result is a nice Docbook XML file (debian-edu-wheezy-manual.xml) and
 757 a handfull of images.  The XML file can now be used to generate PDF, HTML
 758 and epub versions of the English manual.  This is the basic step of
 759 our process, making PDF (using dblatex), HTML (using xsltproc) and
 760 epub (using dbtoepub) version from Docbook XML, and the resulting files
 761 are placed in the debian-edu-doc-en binary package.</p>
 762
 763 <p>But English documentation is not enough for us.  We want translated
 764 documentation too, and we want to make it easy for translators to
 765 track the English original.  For this we use the
 766 <a href="http://packages.qa.debian.org/p/poxml.html">poxml</a> package,
 767 which allow us to transform the English Docbook XML file into a
 768 translation file (a .pot file), usable with the normal gettext based
 769 translation tools used by those translating free software.  The pot
 770 file is used to create and maintain translation files (several .po
 771 files), which the translations update with the native language
 772 translations of all titles, paragraphs and blocks of text in the
 773 original.  The next step is combining the original English Docbook XML
 774 and the translation file (say debian-edu-wheezy-manual.nb.po), to
 775 create a translated Docbook XML file (in this case
 776 debian-edu-wheezy-manual.nb.xml).  This translated (or partly
 777 translated, if the translation is not complete) Docbook XML file can
 778 then be used like the original to create a PDF, HTML and epub version
 779 of the documentation.</p>

 781 <p>The translators use different tools to edit the .po files.  We
 782 recommend using
 783 <a href="http://www.kde.org/applications/development/lokalize/">lokalize</a>,
 784 while some use emacs and vi, others can use web based editors like
 785 <a href="http://pootle.translatehouse.org/">Poodle</a> or
 786 <a href="https://www.transifex.com/">Transifex</a>.  All we care about
 787 is where the .po file end up, in our git repository.  Updated
 788 translations can either be committed directly to git, or submitted as
 789 <a href="https://bugs.debian.org/src:debian-edu-doc">bug reports
 790 against the debian-edu-doc package</a>.</p>

 792 <p>One challenge is images, which both might need to be translated (if
 793 they show translated user applications), and are needed in different
 794 formats when creating PDF and HTML versions (epub is a HTML version in
 795 this regard).  For this we transform the original PNG images to the
 796 needed density and format during build, and have a way to provide
 797 translated images by storing translated versions in
 798 images/$LANGUAGECODE/.  I am a bit unsure about the details here.  The
 799 package maintainers know more.</p>

 837         <p>It has been a while since my last update.  Since last summer, I
 838 have worked on a Norwegian
 839 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">docbook</a> version of the 2004 book

 841 to get a Norwegian text explaining the problems with the copyright
 842 law.  Yesterday, I finally broken the 90% mark, when counting the
 843 number of strings to translate.  Due to real life constraints, I have
 844 not had time to work on it since March, but when the summer broke out,
 845 I found time to work on it again.  Still lots of work left, but the
 846 first draft is nearing completion.  I created a graph to show the
 847 progress of the translation:</p>

 852 proof read, and the remaining formatting problems with images and SVG

 854 missing that need to be added.  This can be done by comparing the

 856 English docbook version with the paper version.  Last, the colophon
 857 page with ISBN numbers etc need to be wrapped up before the release is
 858 done.  I should also figure out how to get correct Norwegian sorting
 859 of the index pages.  All docbook tools I have tried so far (xmlto,
 860 docbook-xsl, dblatex) get the order of symbols and the special
 861 Norwegian letters ÆØÅ wrong.</p>

 863 <p>There is still need for translators and people with docbook
 864 knowledge, to be able to get a good looking book (I still struggle
 865 with dblatex, xmlto and docbook-xsl) as well as to do the draft
 866 translation and proof reading.  And I would like the figures to be
 867 redrawn as SVGs to make it easy to translate them.  Any SVG master
 868 around?  There are also some legal terms that are unfamiliar to me.

1015 <a href="http://www.efn.no/">EFN</a> about interesting books to read
1016 about copyright and the data retention directive, a suggestion to read
1017 the 1968 short story Kodémus by
1018 <a href="http://web2.gyldendal.no/toraage/">Tore Åge Bringsværd</a>
1019 came up.  The text was only available in old paper books, and thus not
1020 easily available for current and future generations.  Some of the
1021 people participating in the discussion contacted the author, and
1022 reported back 2013-03-19 that the author was OK with releasing the
1023 short story using a <a href="http://www.creativecommons.org/">Creative
1024 Commons</a> license.  The text was quickly scanned and OCR-ed, and we
1025 were ready to start on the editing and typesetting.</p>

1027 <p>As I already had some experience formatting text in my project to
1028 provide a Norwegian version of the Free Culture book by Lawrence
1029 Lessig, I chipped in and set up a
1030 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">DocBook</a> processing framework to
1031 generate PDF, HTML and EPUB version of the short story.  The tools to
1032 transform DocBook to different formats are already in my Linux
1033 distribution of choice, <a href="http://www.debian.org/">Debian</a>, so
1034 all I had to do was to use the
1035 <a href="http://dblatex.sourceforge.net/">dblatex</a>,
1036 <a href="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/epub/README">dbtoepub</a>
1037 and <a href="https://fedorahosted.org/xmlto/">xmlto</a> tools to do the
1038 conversion.  After a few days, we decided to replace dblatex with
1039 xsltproc/fop (aka
1040 <a href="http://wiki.docbook.org/DocBookXslStylesheets">docbook-xsl</a>),
1041 to get the copyright information to show up in the PDF and to get a
1042 nicer &lt;variablelist&gt; typesetting, but that is just a minor
1043 technical detail.</p>

1045 <p>There were a few challenges, of course.  We want to typeset the
1046 short story to look like the original, and that require fairly good
1047 control over the layout.  The original short story have three
1048 parts/scenes separated by a single horizontally centred star (*), and
1049 the paragraphs do not contain only flowing text, but dialogs and text
1050 that started on a new line in the middle of the paragraph.</p>

1052 <p>I initially solved the first challenge by using a paragraph with a
1053 single star in it, ie &lt;para&gt;*&lt;/para&gt;, but it made sure a
1054 placeholder indicated where the scene shifted.  This did not look too
1055 good without the centring.  The next approach was to create a new
1056 preprocessor directive &lt;?newscene?&gt;, mapping to "&lt;hr/&gt;"

1205 I can give to my parents and others that are reluctant to read an
1206 English book.  It is a marvellous set of examples on how the ever
1207 expanding copyright regulations hurt culture and society.  When the
1208 translation is done, I hope to find funding to print and ship a copy
1209 to all the members of the Norwegian parliament, before they sit down
1210 to debate the latest revisions to the Norwegian copyright law.  This
1211 summer I

1213 for volunteers</a> to help me, and I have been able to secure the

1287 <p>A bit of background information is probably needed to understand
1288 this mess.  Norwegian is not one, but two written variants.  The
1289 variants are Norwegian Nynorsk and Norwegian Bokmål.  There are three
1290 two letter language codes associated with these languages, Norwegian
1291 is 'no', Norwegian Nynorsk is 'nn' and Norwegian Bokmål is 'nb'.
1292 Historically the 'no' language code was used for Norwegian Bokmål, but
1293 many years ago this was found to be å bad idea, and the recommendation
1294 is to use the most specific language code instead, to avoid confusion.
1295 In the transition period it is a good idea to make sure 'no' was an
1296 alias for 'nb'.</p>

1298 <p>Back to docbook processing tools in Debian.  The dblatex tool only
1299 understand 'nn'.  There are translations for 'no', but not 'nb' (BTS

1417 Progress is good, and yesterday I got a major contribution from Anders
1418 Hagen Jarmund completing chapter six.  The source files as well as a

1422 <p>I am happy to report that the draft for the first two chapters
1423 (preface, introduction) is complete, and three other chapters are also
1424 completely translated.  This completes 26 percent of the number of
1425 strings (equivalent to paragraphs) in the book, and there is thus 74
1426 percent left to translate.  A graph of the progress is present at the
1427 bottom of the github project page.  There is still room for more
1428 contributors.  Get in touch or send github pull requests with fixes if
1429 you got time and are willing to help make this book make it to
1430 print. :)</p>

1466 <p>The problem is that the docbook source have flaws, and we have
1467 no-one involved in the project that is a docbook expert.  Is there a
1468 docbook expert somewhere that is interested in helping us create a
1469 well tagged docbook version of the book, and adjust our build process
1470 for the PDF, EPUB and HTML version of the book?  This will provide a
1471 well tagged English version (our source document), and make it a lot
1472 easier for us to create a good Norwegian version.  If you can and want

1495         <p>Da opphavsrettsloven ble revidert i forrige runde rundt 2005, var
1496 det skummelt å se hvor lite stortingsrepresentantene forsto hvordan
1497 Internet påvirket folks forhold til kulturuttrykk, og min venn Vidar
1498 og jeg spekulert på at det hadde kanskje vært fornuftig om samtlige
1499 representanter fikk en norsk utgave av boken
1500 <a href="http://free-culture.cc/">Free Culture</a> av Lawrence Lessig
1501 som forklarte litt om problemstillingene.  Vi endte opp med å
1502 prioritere utvikling i
1503 <a href="http://www.skolelinux.org/">Skolelinux</a>-prosjektet i
1504 stedet, så den oversatte boken så aldri dagens lys.  Men i forrige uke
1505 ble jeg inspirert til å ta opp tråden og se om det er mulig å få til
1506 bokprosjektet denne gang, da det er tydelig at kulturdepartementet i
1507 sitt nye forsøk på å gjøre opphavsrettsloven enda mer ubalansert til
1508 fordel for forlag og store mediehus fortsatt trenger en annen vinkling
1509 i debatten.</p>

1511 <p>Planen min er å oversette boka på dugnad, sette den opp for
1512 trykking med en av de mange
1513 <a href="http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trykk_på_forespørsel">trykk på
1514 forespørsel</a>-tjenestene, skaffe sponsor til å finansiere trykking
1515 til stortingsrepresentantene og alle som har bidratt med
1516 oversettelser.  Kanskje vi også kan få en avtale med et forlag om
1517 publisering når boka er ferdig?  Kommentarene til

1522 forespørsel er interessante og ikke avskrekkende, og jeg mistenker at
1523 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/">Lulu</a> er en grei leverandør av
1524 trykketjenester til prosjektet.</p>

1526 <p>Jeg har satt opp
1527 <a href="https://github.com/petterreinholdtsen/free-culture-lessig">et
1528 Github-prosjekt</a> for a lage boken, basert på Docbook-utgaven jeg
1529 fant fra Hans Schou.  Skolelinux har hatt byggesystem for å lage
1530 oversatt HTML og PDF-utgave av Docbook-bøker i en årrekke, så jeg har
1531 kopiert og utvidet dette oppsettet.  Originalteksten er i Docbook, og
1532 oversettelsen gjøres i .po-filer med hjelp av vanlige
1533 oversetterverktøy brukt i fri programvareverden.  Dernest tar
1534 byggesystemet over og lager PDF og EPUB-utgave av den oversatte
1535 teksten.  Resultatet kan ses i Github-prosjektet.  For å komme raskt
1536 igang har jeg brukt maskinoversettelse av alle tekstbitene fra engelsk
1537 til norsk, noe som grovoversatte ca. 1300 av de ca. 1700 tekstbitene
1538 boken består av.  Jeg håper nå at flere kan bidra med å få
1539 oversettelsen på plass, slik at teksten kan være klar i løpet av
1540 høsten.  Når alt er oversatt må teksten gjennomgås for feil og
1541 konsistent språk.  Totalt er det nok mange timer som trengs for å
1542 gjennomføre oversettelsen.</p>

1544 <p>Økonomien i dette er ikke avskrekkende.  169
1545 stortingsrepresentanter og nesten like mange varamedlemmer bør få
1546 bøker, og estimert produduksjonskostnad for hver bok er rundt 6 EURO i
1547 følge et raskt estimat fra Lulu.  Jeg vet ennå ikke hvor mange sider
1548 det blir i størrelsen 5,5" x 8.5" (det er ca. 140 sider i A4-format),
1549 så jeg gjettet på 400 sider.  Jeg tror originalutgaven har nesten 400
1550 sider.  For 169*2 eksemplarer snakker vi om en trykkekostnad på
1551 ca. 2000 EURO, dvs. ca 15 000 NOK.  Det burde være mulig å finne en
1552 sponsor for å dekke en slik sum.  I tillegg kommer distribusjon og
1553 porto, som antagelig kommer på like mye.</p>
