  39 2016, der jeg var Core Organizer.  The Gathering er jo et sted hvor en
  40 fremmer delingskultur, i alt fra kode, til løsninger og «hacks», så en

  43 &lt;p&gt;Mine første tanker om boken, var at den trengte et grafisk løft.
  44 Selv har jeg dysleksi og er ikke verdens beste i å lese, men for meg
  45 så skal ikke det bety at jeg ikke klarer å lese.  Jeg har jo også mine
  46 egne tanker om «Fri kultur», ettersom jeg har jobbet med noen norske
  47 filmer via NRK og TV2 og nå sitter som en teknisk leder i
  48 filmavdelingen til Schjærven Reklamebyrå.&lt;/p&gt;

  50 &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Har du lest boken, og hva tenker du om den nå?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  52 &lt;p&gt;Jeg har lest boken, og for meg er det jo veldig moro å kunne si at
  53 Disney var en pirat og nå ha bevisene.  Men det å gå fra Disney via
  54 RIAA, og så igjennom en jungel av teknikk og programmering og ende opp
  55 med spørsmålet om vi alle piratkopierer litt, er enda bedre.  For ja,
  56 boken klarer å få frem en diskusjon om åndsverk på en god måte
  57 gjennom en samling historier, men den viste meg også et bilde, hvor
  58 teknologi blir kneblet, og ikke får lov til å utvikle seg, ettersom
  59 «opphavsrettsinnehaverne» bryr seg mer om sin industri enn om verden
  60 går fremover.  Ta f.eks. internettradio!  Hvorfor tuller vi med DAB+
  61 og alt det der, når radio kan være en app på alle telefoner i dag.
  62 Men den største tanken som jeg satt igjen med, er at vi må få færre
  63 advokater og flere tenkere som kan dra oss vekk fra de feilene vi er i
  64 ferd med å ende opp i.&lt;/p&gt;

  74 av de viktigste virkemidlene det magasinet nå har fått, er pålegget om
  75 å publisere alt under de forskjellige Creative Commons
  76 retningslinjer. Grunnen til at Pegasus kan velge fritt blant lisensene
  77 til Creative Commons er deres bruk av freelancere m.m. som også må få
  78 sine rettigheter dekket.&lt;/p&gt;

  80 &lt;p&gt;Det er et steg i riktig retning som jeg håper, vil gi lokalaviser,
  81 nasjonale aviser, bloggere m.m. muligheten til å referere til Pegasus
  82 sitt innhold uten å måtte be om tillatelse først, som i bunnen vil
  83 hjelpe oss å spre vår kultur i Hyperion.&lt;/p&gt;

  86 Creative Commons, og hvordan kom dere frem til en slik

  89 &lt;p&gt;Dette skjedde på Hyperion sitt landsting, hvor jeg ønsket å fremme
  90 Creative Commons som en retning som flere mener magasinet burde ta,
  91 hvordan Pegasus tar det i bruk er mer opp til redaksjonen. Det som var
  92 trist er at en del har misforstått hva Creative Commons er.  Vi fikk
  93 en veldig het «debatt» på facebook i etterkant hvor noen blant annet
  94 mener at dette vedtaket har drept Pegasus.&lt;/p&gt;

  96 &lt;p&gt;Personlig syntes jeg disse reaksjonene er rare, ettersom Pegasus er
  97 et medlemsmagasin og magasinet sitt mål er å spre vår fantastiske
  98 kultur.  Jeg mener at Ceative Commons-bruksvilkår på artikler skaper
  99 en veldig god mulighet til å spre denne kulturen.  Det gjør at større
 100 og mindre aviser kan låne artikler fra medlemsmagasinet og publisere
 101 det hos seg, slik at effekten nettopp er fremme vår kultur.&lt;/p&gt;

 110 om nye medier, samt de som jobber med medier og føler seg «truet» av
 111 utviklingen. Kanskje det kan være et lysglimt om at vi må heller være
 112 med å utvikle oss, enn å stoppe opp og «beskytte» våre eier-, penge-

 115 &lt;p&gt;Spørsmålet for redaksjoner vil vel være om de «tjener» på klikk og
 116 sine artikler via annonser, i så fall ville jeg tenkt litt rundt
 117 spredningen.  Nettavisen Digi.no gjorde en analyse i 2015 som var
 118 veldig fin. Hvor de måtte konkludere med at de fikk ut budskapet
 119 bedre, men de mistet inntekter på annonsevisning.&lt;/p&gt;

 121 &lt;p&gt;Derfor for et magasin som skal «spre» kultur, så burde Creative
 122 Commons være en no-brainer, en kunne også kanskje argumentere med at
 123 NRK også burde gjøre dette, ettersom de ikke lever av reklame, og vi
 124 betaler for innholdet deres.&lt;/p&gt;

 141 software-utgave, «hvordan kan Adobe styre opphavsretten i sin eBook
 142 Publisher» så føler jeg at vi kommer inn på spennende tanker som jeg
 143 mener vi glemmer i norsk åndsverksdebatt.  USA har rett å slett et

 161 a French and Norwegian translation of the classic

 163 founder of the Creative Commons movement, Lawrence Lessig.  A bit less
 164 known is the fact that due to the way I created the translations,
 165 using docbook and po4a, I also recreated the English original.  And
 166 because I already had created a new the PDF edition, I published it
 167 too.  The revenue from the books are sent to the Creative Commons
 168 Corporation.  In other words, I do not earn any money from this
 169 project, I just earn the warm fuzzy feeling that the text is available
 170 for a wider audience and more people can learn why the Creative
 171 Commons is needed.&lt;/p&gt;

 173 &lt;p&gt;Today, just for fun, I had a look at the sales number over at
 174 Lulu.com, which take care of payment, printing and shipping.  Much to
 175 my surprise, the English edition is selling better than both the
 176 French and Norwegian edition, despite the fact that it has been

 178 books was sold for USD $19.99 between 2016-01-01 and 2016-07-31:&lt;/p&gt;

 356 svar, så jeg antar de ikke er interessert.  Derimot har jeg fått en
 357 hyggelig henvendelse fra Biblioteksentralen som fortalte at de har
 358 lagt den inn i sin database slik at deres bibliotekskunder enkelt kan

 464 av mediebransjen.  Den dokumenterer også hvordan medieindustrien har
 465 lyktes med å bruke rettsvesenet til å begrense konkurranse, og i
 466 praksis har skaffet seg vetorett over teknologiske nyvinninger.

 662 I wanted to create a cover looking similar to the original cover of

 665 Culture&lt;/a&gt; book we are translating to Norwegian, and I wanted it in
 666 vector format for high resolution printing.  But my inkscape knowledge
 667 were not nearly good enough to pull that off.

 669 &lt;p&gt;But thanks to the great inkscape community, I was able to wrap up
 670 the cover yesterday evening.  I asked on the

 672 on Freenode for help and clues, and Marc Jeanmougin (Mc-) volunteered
 673 to try to recreate it based on the PDF of the cover from the HTML

 676 the original and his vector version side by side&lt;/a&gt;, he even provided

 679 not easy to follow for an untrained inkscape user. The video is a

 681 the menu selections are very quick and he mentioned on IRC that he did
 682 use some keyboard shortcuts that can&#39;t be seen on the video, but it
 683 give a good idea about the inkscape operations to use to create the
 684 stripes with the embossed copyright sign in the center.&lt;/p&gt;

 687 on the cover I was drawing.  I am happy with the end result, and the

 712                 <description>&lt;p&gt;Today, finally, my first printed draft edition of the Norwegian
 713 translation of Free Culture I have been working on for the last few
 714 years arrived in the mail.  I had to fake a cover to get the interior
 715 printed, and the exterior of the book look awful, but that is
 716 irrelevant at this point.  I asked for a printed pocket book version
 717 to get an idea about the font sizes and paper format as well as how
 718 good the figures and images look in print, but also to test what the
 719 pocket book version would look like.  After receiving the 500 page
 720 pocket book, it became obvious to me that that pocket book size is too
 721 small for this book.  I believe the book is too thick, and several
 722 tables and figures do not look good in the size they get with that
 723 small page sizes.  I believe I will go with the 5.5x8.5 inch size
 724 instead.  A surprise discovery from the paper version was how bad the
 725 URLs look in print.  They are very hard to read in the colophon page.
 726 The URLs are red in the PDF, but light gray on paper.  I need to
 727 change the color of links somehow to look better.  But there is a
 728 printed book in my hand, and it feels great. :)&lt;/p&gt;

 731 store behind the book, and collect the last corrections from the proof

 770 15.3x22.9 cm) with 280 pages?  Fewer pager give a cheaper book, and a
 771 smaller book is easier to carry around.  The test book I ordered was

 782 the same CC license as the book.  My artistic skills are not really up

1055 done.  I should also figure out how to get correct Norwegian sorting
1056 of the index pages.  All docbook tools I have tried so far (xmlto,
1057 docbook-xsl, dblatex) get the order of symbols and the special
1058 Norwegian letters ÆØÅ wrong.&lt;/p&gt;

1061 knowledge, to be able to get a good looking book (I still struggle
1062 with dblatex, xmlto and docbook-xsl) as well as to do the draft

1065 around?  There are also some legal terms that are unfamiliar to me.

1686 bokprosjektet denne gang, da det er tydelig at kulturdepartementet i
1687 sitt nye forsøk på å gjøre opphavsrettsloven enda mer ubalansert til
1688 fordel for forlag og store mediehus fortsatt trenger en annen vinkling

1709 fant fra Hans Schou.  Skolelinux har hatt byggesystem for å lage
1710 oversatt HTML og PDF-utgave av Docbook-bøker i en årrekke, så jeg har
1711 kopiert og utvidet dette oppsettet.  Originalteksten er i Docbook, og
1712 oversettelsen gjøres i .po-filer med hjelp av vanlige
1713 oversetterverktøy brukt i fri programvareverden.  Dernest tar
1714 byggesystemet over og lager PDF og EPUB-utgave av den oversatte
1715 teksten.  Resultatet kan ses i Github-prosjektet.  For å komme raskt
1716 igang har jeg brukt maskinoversettelse av alle tekstbitene fra engelsk
1717 til norsk, noe som grovoversatte ca. 1300 av de ca. 1700 tekstbitene
1718 boken består av.  Jeg håper nå at flere kan bidra med å få
1719 oversettelsen på plass, slik at teksten kan være klar i løpet av
1720 høsten.  Når alt er oversatt må teksten gjennomgås for feil og
1721 konsistent språk.  Totalt er det nok mange timer som trengs for å
1722 gjennomføre oversettelsen.&lt;/p&gt;

1724 &lt;p&gt;Økonomien i dette er ikke avskrekkende.  169
1725 stortingsrepresentanter og nesten like mange varamedlemmer bør få
1726 bøker, og estimert produduksjonskostnad for hver bok er rundt 6 EURO i
1727 følge et raskt estimat fra Lulu.  Jeg vet ennå ikke hvor mange sider
1728 det blir i størrelsen 5,5&quot; x 8.5&quot; (det er ca. 140 sider i A4-format),
1729 så jeg gjettet på 400 sider.  Jeg tror originalutgaven har nesten 400
1730 sider.  For 169*2 eksemplarer snakker vi om en trykkekostnad på
1731 ca. 2000 EURO, dvs. ca 15 000 NOK.  Det burde være mulig å finne en
1732 sponsor for å dekke en slik sum.  I tillegg kommer distribusjon og
1733 porto, som antagelig kommer på like mye.&lt;/p&gt;
