  31         <p>A few days ago, a productive translator started working on a new
  32 translation of <a href="https://madewith.cc">the Made with Creative
  33 Commons book</a> for Brazilian Portuguese.  The translation take place on
  34 <a href="https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/madewithcc/translation/">the
  35 Weblate web based translation system</a>.  Once the translation is
  36 complete and proof read, we can publish it on paper as well as in PDF,
  37 ePub and HTML format.  The translation is already 16% complete, and if
  38 more people get involved I am conviced it can very quickly reach 100%.
  39 If you are interested in helping out with this or other translations
  40 of the Made with Creative Commons book, start translating on
  41 Weblate.  There are partial translations available in Azerbaijani,
  42 Bengali, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Polish,
  43 Simplified Chinese, Swedish, Thai and Ukrainian.</p>

  74         <p>Almost thirty years ago, some forward looking teachers at Samisk
  75 videregående skole og reindriftsskole teaching metal work and Northern
  76 Sámi, decided to create a list of words used in Northern Sámi metal
  77 work.  After almost ten years this resulted in a dictionary database,
  78 published as the book
  79 "<a href="https://ovttas.no/nb/girji_mekanikerord">Mekanihkkársánit :
  80 Mekanikerord = Mekaanisen alan sanasto = Mechanic's words</a>" in
  81 1999.  The
  82 <a href="http://www.skuvla.info/skolehist/sveinl-n.htm">story of this
  83 work</a> is available from the pen of Svein Lund, one of the leading
  84 actors behind this effort.  They even got the dictionary approved by
  85 the Sámi Language Council as the recommended metal work words to use.</p>

  87 <p>Fast forward twenty years, I came across this work when I recently
  88 became interested in metal work, and started watching educational and
  89 funny videos on the topic, like the ones from
  90 <a href="https://yewtu.be/channel/UCKLIIdKEpjAnn8E76KP7sQg">mrpete222</a>
  91 and <a href="https://yewtu.be/channel/UC5NO8MgTQKHAWXp6z8Xl7yQ">This
  92 Old Tony</a>.  But they all talk English, but I wanted to know what
  93 the tools and techniques they used were called in Norwegian.  Trying
  94 to track down a good dictionary from English to Norwegian, after much
  95 searching, I came across the database of words created
  96 almost thirty years ago, with translations into English, Norwegian,
  97 Northern Sámi, Swedish and Finnish.  This gave me a lot of the
  98 Norwegian phrases I had been looking for.  To make it easier for the
  99 next person trying to track down a good Norwegian dictionary for the
 100 metal worker, and because I knew the person behind the database from
 101 my Skolelinux / Debian Edu days, I decided to ask if the database
 102 could be released to the public without any usage limitations, in
 103 other words as a Creative Commons licensed data set.  And happily,
 104 after consulting with the Sámi Parliament of Norway, the database is
 105 now available with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International
 106 license from

 159 Northern Sámi, but not English.  Because of this, the Northern Sámi
 160 edition include both descriptions, the Norwegian edition include the
 161 Norwegian description and the English edition lack a descripiton.</p>

 163 <p>Once the database was available without any usage restrictions, and
 164 armed with my experience in publishing books, I decided to publish a
 165 Norwegian/English dictionary as a book using the database, to make the
 166 data set available also on paper and as an ebook.  Further into the
 167 project, it occurred to me that I could just as easily make an English
 168 dictionary, and talking to Svein and concluding that it was within
 169 reach, I decided to make a Northern Sámi dictionary too.</p>

 171 <p>Thus I suddenly find myself publishing a Northern Sámi dictionary,
 172 even though I do not understand the language myself.  I hope it will
 173 be well received, and can help revive the impressive work done almost
 174 thirty years ago to document the vocabulary of metal workers.  If I
 175 get some help, I might even extend it with some of the words I find
 176 missing, like collet, rotary broach, carbide, knurler, arbor press and
 177 others.  But the first edition build from a lightly edited version of

 190 needed locale settings for this language, but now the patches are
 191 included upstream.</p>

 237 analyserer dr. Doctorow de utfordringer vi møter i større og større
 238 omfang. Ikke bare i USA, men også her hjemme.</p>

 241 aktivist, kjent for sine science fiction-romaner, for arbeidet for
 242 Creative Commons-bevegelsen, og for sine bidrag til reform av

 244 datavitenskap ved Open University i UK, konsulent for Electronic
 245 Frontier Foundation, og godt kjent for innsiktsfullt å kommentere og
 246 skrive om digital utvikling.</p>

 261 forby «et dominerende foretak for utilbørlig å utnytte og misbruke
 262 sin dominerende stilling». Et tilsvarende forbud omfattes også av

 264 innskrenkninger vi møter i valgfriheten, innskrenkninger som denne
 265 lovgivningen nettopp skal forhindre. Håndhevelse av en slik lovgivning

 267 begrenset sine faktiske eller potensielle muligheter for vekst og

 437 <a href="http://www.free-culture.cc/">Free Culture by Lawrence
 438 Lessig</a>, is still selling a few copies.  Not a lot, but enough to
 439 have contributed slightly over $500 to the <a
 440 href="https://creativecommons.org/">Creative Commons Corporation</a>
 441 so far.  All the profit is sent there. Most books are still sold via
 442 Amazon (83 copies), with Ingram second (49) and Lulu (12) and Machette (7) as
 443 minor channels.  Bying directly from Lulu bring the largest cut to
 444 Creative Commons.  The English Edition sold 80 copies so far, the
 445 French 59 copies, and Norwegian only 8 copies.  Nothing impressive,
 446 but nice to see the work we put down is still being appreciated.  The
 447 ebook edition is available for free from

 535         <p>I am working on publishing yet another book related to Creative
 536 Commons.  This time it is a book filled with interviews and histories
 537 from those around the globe making a living using Creative
 538 Commons.</p>

 540 <p>Yesterday, after many months of hard work by several volunteer
 541 translators, the first draft of a Norwegian Bokmål edition of the book
 542 <a href="https://madewith.cc">Made with Creative Commons from 2017</a>
 543 was complete.  The Spanish translation is also complete, while the
 544 Dutch, Polish, German and Ukraine edition need a lot of work.  Get in
 545 touch if you want to help make those happen, or would like to
 546 translate into your mother tongue.</p>

 548 <p>The whole book project started when
 549 <a href="http://gwolf.org/node/4102">Gunnar Wolf announced</a> that he
 550 was going to make a Spanish edition of the book.  I noticed, and
 551 offered some input on how to make a book, based on my experience with
 552 translating the
 553 <a href="https://www.lulu.com/shop/lawrence-lessig/fri-kultur/paperback/product-22441576.html">Free
 554 Culture</a> and
 555 <a href="https://debian-handbook.info/get/#norwegian">The Debian
 556 Administrator's Handbook</a> books to Norwegian Bokmål.  To make a
 557 long story short, we ended up working on a Bokmål edition, and now the
 558 first rough translation is complete, thanks to the hard work of
 559 Ole-Erik Yrvin, Ingrid Yrvin, Allan Nordhøy and myself.  The first
 560 proof reading is almost done, and only the second and third proof
 561 reading remains.  We will also need to translate the 14 figures and
 562 create a book cover.  Once it is done we will publish the book on
 563 paper, as well as in PDF, ePub and possibly Mobi formats.</p>

 565 <p>The book itself originates as a manuscript on Google Docs, is
 566 downloaded as ODT from there and converted to Markdown using pandoc.
 567 The Markdown is modified by a script before is converted to DocBook
 568 using pandoc.  The DocBook is modified again using a script before it
 569 is used to create a Gettext POT file for translators.  The translated
 570 PO file is then combined with the earlier mentioned DocBook file to
 571 create a translated DocBook file, which finally is given to dblatex to
 572 create the final PDF.  The end result is a set of editions of the
 573 manuscript, one English and one for each of the translations.</p>

 576 <a href="https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/madewithcc/translation/">the
 577 Weblate web based translation system</a>.  Please have a look there

 609 but happy to see some buyers still exist.  All the revenue from the

 611 Commons Corporation</a>, and they receive the largest cut if you buy
 612 directly from Lulu.  Most books are sold via Amazon, with Ingram
 613 second and only a small fraction directly from Lulu.  The ebook
 614 edition is available for free from

 678 a French and Norwegian translation of the classic
 679 <a href="http://www.free-culture.cc/">Free Culture book</a> by the
 680 founder of the Creative Commons movement, Lawrence Lessig.  A bit less
 681 known is the fact that due to the way I created the translations,
 682 using docbook and po4a, I also recreated the English original.  And
 683 because I already had created a new the PDF edition, I published it
 684 too.  The revenue from the books are sent to the Creative Commons
 685 Corporation.  In other words, I do not earn any money from this
 686 project, I just earn the warm fuzzy feeling that the text is available
 687 for a wider audience and more people can learn why the Creative
 688 Commons is needed.</p>

 690 <p>Today, just for fun, I had a look at the sales number over at
 691 Lulu.com, which take care of payment, printing and shipping.  Much to
 692 my surprise, the English edition is selling better than both the
 693 French and Norwegian edition, despite the fact that it has been
 694 available in English since it was first published.  In total, 24 paper
 695 books was sold for USD $19.99 between 2016-01-01 and 2016-07-31:</p>

 794 <a href="http://dblatex.sourceforge.net/">dblatex</a> developer Benoît

 805 <p>When enabling book store distribution on Lulu.com, I had to nearly
 806 triple the price to allow the book stores some profit.  I also had to
 807 accept that I will get some revenue when a book is sold via Lulu.com.
 808 But because of the non-commercial clause in the book license
 809 (CC-BY-NC), this might be a problem.  To bypass the problem I
 810 discussed how to handle the revenue with the author, and we agreed
 811 that the revenue for these editions go to the
 812 <a href="https://creativecommons.org/">Creative Commons non-profit
 813 Corporation</a> who handle donations to the Creative Commons project.
 814 So far they have earned around USD 70 on sales of the
 815 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/shop/lawrence-lessig/free-culture/paperback/product-22440520.html">English</a>

 927 was very moved by it.  Reading the book inspired me and changed the
 928 way I looked on copyright law, and I would love it if more people

 931 <p>Because of this, I decided in the summer of 2012 to translate it to
 932 Norwegian Bokmål and publish it for those of my friends and family
 933 that prefer to read books in Norwegian.  I translated the book using
 934 docbook and a gettext PO file, and a byproduct of this process is a
 935 new edition of the English original.  I've been in touch with the
 936 author during by work, and he said it was fine with him if I also
 937 published an English version.  So I decided to do so.  Today, I made

1030         <p>Creating a good looking book cover proved harder than I expected.
1031 I wanted to create a cover looking similar to the original cover of

1033 <a href="https://github.com/petterreinholdtsen/free-culture-lessig">Free
1034 Culture</a> book we are translating to Norwegian, and I wanted it in
1035 vector format for high resolution printing.  But my inkscape knowledge
1036 were not nearly good enough to pull that off.

1038 <p>But thanks to the great inkscape community, I was able to wrap up
1039 the cover yesterday evening.  I asked on the
1040 <a href="irc://irc.freenode.net/%23inkscape">#inkscape IRC channel</a>
1041 on Freenode for help and clues, and Marc Jeanmougin (Mc-) volunteered
1042 to try to recreate it based on the PDF of the cover from the HTML
1043 version.  Not only did he create a
1044 <a href="https://marc.jeanmougin.fr/share/copy1.svg ">SVG document with
1045 the original and his vector version side by side</a>, he even provided
1046 an <a href="https://marc.jeanmougin.fr/share/out-1.ogv">instruction
1047 video</a> explaining how he did it</a>.  But the instruction video is
1048 not easy to follow for an untrained inkscape user. The video is a
1049 recording on how he did it, and he is obviously very experienced as
1050 the menu selections are very quick and he mentioned on IRC that he did
1051 use some keyboard shortcuts that can't be seen on the video, but it
1052 give a good idea about the inkscape operations to use to create the
1053 stripes with the embossed copyright sign in the center.</p>

1055 <p>I took his SVG file, copied the vector image and re-sized it to fit
1056 on the cover I was drawing.  I am happy with the end result, and the

1093         <p>Today, finally, my first printed draft edition of the Norwegian
1094 translation of Free Culture I have been working on for the last few
1095 years arrived in the mail.  I had to fake a cover to get the interior
1096 printed, and the exterior of the book look awful, but that is
1097 irrelevant at this point.  I asked for a printed pocket book version
1098 to get an idea about the font sizes and paper format as well as how
1099 good the figures and images look in print, but also to test what the
1100 pocket book version would look like.  After receiving the 500 page
1101 pocket book, it became obvious to me that that pocket book size is too
1102 small for this book.  I believe the book is too thick, and several
1103 tables and figures do not look good in the size they get with that
1104 small page sizes.  I believe I will go with the 5.5x8.5 inch size
1105 instead.  A surprise discovery from the paper version was how bad the
1106 URLs look in print.  They are very hard to read in the colophon page.
1107 The URLs are red in the PDF, but light gray on paper.  I need to
1108 change the color of links somehow to look better.  But there is a
1109 printed book in my hand, and it feels great. :)</p>

1111 <p>Now I only need to fix the cover, wrap up the postscript with the
1112 store behind the book, and collect the last corrections from the proof
1113 readers before the book is ready for proper printing.  Cover artists
1114 willing to work for free and create a Creative Commons licensed vector

1116 a graphics designer are mostly missing.</p>

1138 mostly done, and a volunteer proof reader was going to check the text
1139 on paper, it was time this summer to focus on formatting my translated

1142 Lessig.  I've been trying to get both docboox-xsl+fop and dblatex to
1143 give me a good looking PDF, but in the end I went with dblatex, because
1144 its Debian maintainer and upstream developer were responsive and very
1145 helpful in solving my formatting challenges.</p>

1148 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/">Lulu.com</a> complain after uploading,
1149 and I ordered a text version of the book on paper.  It is lacking a
1150 proper book cover and is not tagged with the correct ISBN number, but
1151 should give me an idea what the finished book will look like.</p>

1365         <p>The <a href="http://www.skolelinux.org/">Debian Edu / Skolelinux
1366 project</a> provide an instruction manual for teachers, system
1367 administrators and other users that contain useful tips for setting up
1368 and maintaining a Debian Edu installation.  This text is about how the
1369 text processing of this manual is handled in the project.</p>
1370
1371 <p>One goal of the project is to provide information in the native
1372 language of its users, and for this we need to handle translations.
1373 But we also want to make sure each language contain the same
1374 information, so for this we need a good way to keep the translations
1375 in sync.  And we want it to be easy for our users to improve the
1376 documentation, avoiding the need to learn special formats or tools to
1377 contribute, and the obvious way to do this is to make it possible to
1378 edit the documentation using a web browser.  We also want it to be
1379 easy for translators to keep the translation up to date, and give them
1380 help in figuring out what need to be translated. Here is the list of
1381 tools and the process we have found trying to reach all these
1382 goals.</p>

1384 <p>We maintain the authoritative source of our manual in the
1385 <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Documentation/Wheezy/">Debian
1386 wiki</a>, as several wiki pages written in English.  It consist of one
1387 front page with references to the different chapters, several pages
1388 for each chapter, and finally one "collection page" gluing all the
1389 chapters together into one large web page (aka
1390 <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Documentation/Wheezy/AllInOne">the
1391 AllInOne page</a>).  The AllInOne page is the one used for further
1392 processing and translations.  Thanks to the fact that the
1393 <a href="http://moinmo.in/">MoinMoin</a> installation on
1394 wiki.debian.org support exporting pages in
1395 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">the Docbook format</a>, we can fetch
1396 the list of pages to export using the raw version of the AllInOne
1397 page, loop over each of them to generate a Docbook XML version of the
1398 manual.  This process also download images and transform image
1399 references to use the locally downloaded images.  The generated
1400 Docbook XML files are slightly broken, so some post-processing is done
1401 using the <tt>documentation/scripts/get_manual</tt> program, and the
1402 result is a nice Docbook XML file (debian-edu-wheezy-manual.xml) and
1403 a handfull of images.  The XML file can now be used to generate PDF, HTML
1404 and epub versions of the English manual.  This is the basic step of
1405 our process, making PDF (using dblatex), HTML (using xsltproc) and
1406 epub (using dbtoepub) version from Docbook XML, and the resulting files
1407 are placed in the debian-edu-doc-en binary package.</p>

1409 <p>But English documentation is not enough for us.  We want translated
1410 documentation too, and we want to make it easy for translators to
1411 track the English original.  For this we use the
1412 <a href="http://packages.qa.debian.org/p/poxml.html">poxml</a> package,
1413 which allow us to transform the English Docbook XML file into a
1414 translation file (a .pot file), usable with the normal gettext based
1415 translation tools used by those translating free software.  The pot
1416 file is used to create and maintain translation files (several .po
1417 files), which the translations update with the native language
1418 translations of all titles, paragraphs and blocks of text in the
1419 original.  The next step is combining the original English Docbook XML
1420 and the translation file (say debian-edu-wheezy-manual.nb.po), to
1421 create a translated Docbook XML file (in this case
1422 debian-edu-wheezy-manual.nb.xml).  This translated (or partly
1423 translated, if the translation is not complete) Docbook XML file can
1424 then be used like the original to create a PDF, HTML and epub version
1425 of the documentation.</p>

1427 <p>The translators use different tools to edit the .po files.  We
1428 recommend using
1429 <a href="http://www.kde.org/applications/development/lokalize/">lokalize</a>,

1483         <p>It has been a while since my last update.  Since last summer, I
1484 have worked on a Norwegian
1485 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">docbook</a> version of the 2004 book
1486 <a href="http://free-culture.cc/">Free Culture</a> by Lawrence Lessig,
1487 to get a Norwegian text explaining the problems with the copyright
1488 law.  Yesterday, I finally broken the 90% mark, when counting the
1489 number of strings to translate.  Due to real life constraints, I have
1490 not had time to work on it since March, but when the summer broke out,
1491 I found time to work on it again.  Still lots of work left, but the
1492 first draft is nearing completion.  I created a graph to show the
1493 progress of the translation:</p>

1498 proof read, and the remaining formatting problems with images and SVG

1500 missing that need to be added.  This can be done by comparing the

1502 English docbook version with the paper version.  Last, the colophon
1503 page with ISBN numbers etc need to be wrapped up before the release is
1504 done.  I should also figure out how to get correct Norwegian sorting
1505 of the index pages.  All docbook tools I have tried so far (xmlto,
1506 docbook-xsl, dblatex) get the order of symbols and the special
1507 Norwegian letters ÆØÅ wrong.</p>

1509 <p>There is still need for translators and people with docbook
1510 knowledge, to be able to get a good looking book (I still struggle
1511 with dblatex, xmlto and docbook-xsl) as well as to do the draft
1512 translation and proof reading.  And I would like the figures to be
1513 redrawn as SVGs to make it easy to translate them.  Any SVG master
1514 around?  There are also some legal terms that are unfamiliar to me.

1660         <p>A few days ago, during a discussion in
1661 <a href="http://www.efn.no/">EFN</a> about interesting books to read
1662 about copyright and the data retention directive, a suggestion to read
1663 the 1968 short story Kodémus by
1664 <a href="http://web2.gyldendal.no/toraage/">Tore Åge Bringsværd</a>
1665 came up.  The text was only available in old paper books, and thus not
1666 easily available for current and future generations.  Some of the
1667 people participating in the discussion contacted the author, and
1668 reported back 2013-03-19 that the author was OK with releasing the
1669 short story using a <a href="http://www.creativecommons.org/">Creative
1670 Commons</a> license.  The text was quickly scanned and OCR-ed, and we
1671 were ready to start on the editing and typesetting.</p>

1673 <p>As I already had some experience formatting text in my project to
1674 provide a Norwegian version of the Free Culture book by Lawrence
1675 Lessig, I chipped in and set up a
1676 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">DocBook</a> processing framework to
1677 generate PDF, HTML and EPUB version of the short story.  The tools to
1678 transform DocBook to different formats are already in my Linux
1679 distribution of choice, <a href="http://www.debian.org/">Debian</a>, so
1680 all I had to do was to use the
1681 <a href="http://dblatex.sourceforge.net/">dblatex</a>,
1682 <a href="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/epub/README">dbtoepub</a>
1683 and <a href="https://fedorahosted.org/xmlto/">xmlto</a> tools to do the
1684 conversion.  After a few days, we decided to replace dblatex with
1685 xsltproc/fop (aka
1686 <a href="http://wiki.docbook.org/DocBookXslStylesheets">docbook-xsl</a>),
1687 to get the copyright information to show up in the PDF and to get a
1688 nicer &lt;variablelist&gt; typesetting, but that is just a minor
1689 technical detail.</p>

1691 <p>There were a few challenges, of course.  We want to typeset the
1692 short story to look like the original, and that require fairly good
1693 control over the layout.  The original short story have three
1694 parts/scenes separated by a single horizontally centred star (*), and
1695 the paragraphs do not contain only flowing text, but dialogs and text
1696 that started on a new line in the middle of the paragraph.</p>

1698 <p>I initially solved the first challenge by using a paragraph with a
1699 single star in it, ie &lt;para&gt;*&lt;/para&gt;, but it made sure a
1700 placeholder indicated where the scene shifted.  This did not look too
1701 good without the centring.  The next approach was to create a new
1702 preprocessor directive &lt;?newscene?&gt;, mapping to "&lt;hr/&gt;"
1703 for HTML and "&lt;fo:block text-align="center"&gt;&lt;fo:leader
1704 leader-pattern="rule" rule-thickness="0.5pt"/&gt;&lt;/fo:block&gt;"

1916         <p>In <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">docbook</a> one can specify
1917 the language used at the top, and the processing pipeline will use
1918 this information to pick the correct translations for 'chapter', 'see
1919 also', 'index' etc.  And for most languages used with docbook, I guess
1920 this work just fine.  For example a German user can start the document
1921 with &lt;book lang="de"&gt;, and the document will show up with the
1922 correct content with any of the docbook processors.  This is not the
1923 case for the language
1924 <a href="http://people.skolelinux.org/pere/blog/Free_Culture_in_Norwegian___5_chapters_done__74_percent_left_to_do.html">I
1925 am working with at the moment</a>, Norwegian Bokmål.</p>

1927 <p>For a while, I was confused about which language code to use,
1928 because I was unable to find any language code that would work across
1929 all tools.  I am currently testing dblatex, xmlto, docbook-xsl, and
1930 dbtoepub, and they do not handle Norwegian Bokmål the same way.  Some
1931 of them do not handle it at all.</p>

1933 <p>A bit of background information is probably needed to understand
1934 this mess.  Norwegian is not one, but two written variants.  The
1935 variants are Norwegian Nynorsk and Norwegian Bokmål.  There are three
1936 two letter language codes associated with these languages, Norwegian
1937 is 'no', Norwegian Nynorsk is 'nn' and Norwegian Bokmål is 'nb'.
1938 Historically the 'no' language code was used for Norwegian Bokmål, but
1939 many years ago this was found to be å bad idea, and the recommendation
1940 is to use the most specific language code instead, to avoid confusion.
1941 In the transition period it is a good idea to make sure 'no' was an
1942 alias for 'nb'.</p>

1944 <p>Back to docbook processing tools in Debian.  The dblatex tool only
1945 understand 'nn'.  There are translations for 'no', but not 'nb' (BTS
1946 <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/684391">#684391</a>), but due to a bug
1947 (BTS <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/682936">#682936</a>) the 'no'
1948 language code is not recognised.  The docbook-xsl tool chain only
1949 recognise 'nn' and 'nb', but not 'no'.  The xmlto tool only recognise
1950 'nn' and 'nb', but not 'no'.  The end result that there is no language
1951 code I can use to get the docbook file working with all of these tools
1952 at the same time. :(</p>

1991 translation of the book Free Culture by Lawrence Lessig, and I use

2175 fant fra Hans Schou.  Skolelinux har hatt byggesystem for å lage
2176 oversatt HTML og PDF-utgave av Docbook-bøker i en årrekke, så jeg har
2177 kopiert og utvidet dette oppsettet.  Originalteksten er i Docbook, og
2178 oversettelsen gjøres i .po-filer med hjelp av vanlige
2179 oversetterverktøy brukt i fri programvareverden.  Dernest tar
2180 byggesystemet over og lager PDF og EPUB-utgave av den oversatte
2181 teksten.  Resultatet kan ses i Github-prosjektet.  For å komme raskt
2182 igang har jeg brukt maskinoversettelse av alle tekstbitene fra engelsk
2183 til norsk, noe som grovoversatte ca. 1300 av de ca. 1700 tekstbitene
2184 boken består av.  Jeg håper nå at flere kan bidra med å få
2185 oversettelsen på plass, slik at teksten kan være klar i løpet av
2186 høsten.  Når alt er oversatt må teksten gjennomgås for feil og
2187 konsistent språk.  Totalt er det nok mange timer som trengs for å
2188 gjennomføre oversettelsen.</p>

2190 <p>Økonomien i dette er ikke avskrekkende.  169
2191 stortingsrepresentanter og nesten like mange varamedlemmer bør få
2192 bøker, og estimert produduksjonskostnad for hver bok er rundt 6 EURO i
2193 følge et raskt estimat fra Lulu.  Jeg vet ennå ikke hvor mange sider
2194 det blir i størrelsen 5,5" x 8.5" (det er ca. 140 sider i A4-format),
2195 så jeg gjettet på 400 sider.  Jeg tror originalutgaven har nesten 400
2196 sider.  For 169*2 eksemplarer snakker vi om en trykkekostnad på
2197 ca. 2000 EURO, dvs. ca 15 000 NOK.  Det burde være mulig å finne en
2198 sponsor for å dekke en slik sum.  I tillegg kommer distribusjon og
2199 porto, som antagelig kommer på like mye.</p>
