  91 author during by work, and he said it was fine with him if I also

 162 I wanted to create a cover looking similar to the original cover of

 166 vector format for high resolution printing.  But my inkscape knowledge

 170 the cover yesterday evening.  I asked on the

 172 on Freenode for help and clues, and Marc Jeanmougin (Mc-) volunteered

 212                 <description>&lt;p&gt;Today, finally, my first printed draft edition of the Norwegian
 213 translation of Free Culture I have been working on for the last few
 214 years arrived in the mail.  I had to fake a cover to get the interior
 215 printed, and the exterior of the book look awful, but that is
 216 irrelevant at this point.  I asked for a printed pocket book version
 217 to get an idea about the font sizes and paper format as well as how
 218 good the figures and images look in print, but also to test what the
 219 pocket book version would look like.  After receiving the 500 page
 220 pocket book, it became obvious to me that that pocket book size is too
 221 small for this book.  I believe the book is too thick, and several
 222 tables and figures do not look good in the size they get with that
 223 small page sizes.  I believe I will go with the 5.5x8.5 inch size
 224 instead.  A surprise discovery from the paper version was how bad the
 225 URLs look in print.  They are very hard to read in the colophon page.
 226 The URLs are red in the PDF, but light gray on paper.  I need to
 227 change the color of links somehow to look better.  But there is a
 228 printed book in my hand, and it feels great. :)&lt;/p&gt;

 270 15.3x22.9 cm) with 280 pages?  Fewer pager give a cheaper book, and a

 282 the same CC license as the book.  My artistic skills are not really up

 555 done.  I should also figure out how to get correct Norwegian sorting
 556 of the index pages.  All docbook tools I have tried so far (xmlto,
 557 docbook-xsl, dblatex) get the order of symbols and the special
 558 Norwegian letters ÆØÅ wrong.&lt;/p&gt;

 561 knowledge, to be able to get a good looking book (I still struggle
 562 with dblatex, xmlto and docbook-xsl) as well as to do the draft

 565 around?  There are also some legal terms that are unfamiliar to me.

 822 Norway, the amount of money you have, the value of our land property,

 826 taxes for these values.  And copyrighted work have value.  It have
 827 value for the rights holder, who can earn money selling access to the
 828 work.  But it is not included in the tax calculations?  Why not?&lt;/p&gt;

 830 &lt;p&gt;If the government want to tax copyrighted works, it would want to
 831 maintain a database of all the copyrighted works and who are the
 832 rights holders for a given works, to be able to associate the works
 833 value to the right citizen or company for tax purposes.  If such
 834 database exist, it will become a lot easier to find out who to talk to
 835 for clearing permissions to use a copyrighted work, which is a very
 836 hard operation with todays copyright law.  To ensure that copyright
 837 holders keep the database up-to-date, it would have to become a
 838 requirement to be able to collect money for granting access to
 839 copyrighted works that the work is listed in the database with the
 840 correct right holder.&lt;/p&gt;

 842 &lt;p&gt;If copyright causes copyright holders to have to pay more taxes,
 843 they will have a small incentive to &quot;disown&quot; their copyright, and let
 844 the work enter the public domain. For works with several right holders
 845 one of the right holders could state (and get it registered in the
 846 database) that she do not need to be consulted when clearing rights to
 847 use the work in question and thus will not get any income from that
 848 work.  Stating this would have to be impossible to revert and stop the
 849 tax office from adding the value of that work to the given citizens
 850 tax calculation.  I assume the copyright law would stay the same,
 851 allowing creators to pick a license of their choosing, and also
 852 allowing them to put their work directly in the public domain.  The
 853 existence of such database will make it even easier to clear rights,
 854 and if the right holders listed in the database is taxed, this system
 855 would increase the amount of works that enter the public domain.&lt;/p&gt;

1215 teksten.  Resultatet kan ses i Github-prosjektet.  For å komme raskt
1216 igang har jeg brukt maskinoversettelse av alle tekstbitene fra engelsk
1217 til norsk, noe som grovoversatte ca. 1300 av de ca. 1700 tekstbitene
1218 boken består av.  Jeg håper nå at flere kan bidra med å få
1219 oversettelsen på plass, slik at teksten kan være klar i løpet av
1220 høsten.  Når alt er oversatt må teksten gjennomgås for feil og
1221 konsistent språk.  Totalt er det nok mange timer som trengs for å
1222 gjennomføre oversettelsen.&lt;/p&gt;

1228 det blir i størrelsen 5,5&quot; x 8.5&quot; (det er ca. 140 sider i A4-format),
1229 så jeg gjettet på 400 sider.  Jeg tror originalutgaven har nesten 400
1230 sider.  For 169*2 eksemplarer snakker vi om en trykkekostnad på
1231 ca. 2000 EURO, dvs. ca 15 000 NOK.  Det burde være mulig å finne en
1232 sponsor for å dekke en slik sum.  I tillegg kommer distribusjon og
1233 porto, som antagelig kommer på like mye.&lt;/p&gt;
