  31         <p>The first book I published,
  32 <a href="http://www.free-culture.cc/">Free Culture by Lawrence
  33 Lessig</a>, is still selling a few copies.  Not a lot, but enough to
  34 have contributed slightly over $500 to the <a
  35 href="https://creativecommons.org/">Creative Commons Corporation</a>
  36 so far.  All the profit is sent there. Most books are still sold via
  37 Amazon (83 copies), with Ingram second (49) and Lulu (12) and Machette (7) as
  38 minor channels.  Bying directly from Lulu bring the largest cut to
  39 Creative Commons.  The English Edition sold 80 copies so far, the
  40 French 59 copies, and Norwegian only 8 copies.  Nothing impressive,
  41 but nice to see the work we put down is still being appreciated.  The
  42 ebook edition is available for free from

 130         <p>I am working on publishing yet another book related to Creative
 131 Commons.  This time it is a book filled with interviews and histories
 132 from those around the globe making a living using Creative
 133 Commons.</p>

 135 <p>Yesterday, after many months of hard work by several volunteer
 136 translators, the first draft of a Norwegian Bokmål edition of the book
 137 <a href="https://madewith.cc">Made with Creative Commons from 2017</a>
 138 was complete.  The Spanish translation is also complete, while the
 139 Dutch, Polish, German and Ukraine edition need a lot of work.  Get in
 140 touch if you want to help make those happen, or would like to
 141 translate into your mother tongue.</p>

 143 <p>The whole book project started when
 144 <a href="http://gwolf.org/node/4102">Gunnar Wolf announced</a> that he
 145 was going to make a Spanish edition of the book.  I noticed, and
 146 offered some input on how to make a book, based on my experience with
 147 translating the
 148 <a href="https://www.lulu.com/shop/lawrence-lessig/fri-kultur/paperback/product-22441576.html">Free
 149 Culture</a> and
 150 <a href="https://debian-handbook.info/get/#norwegian">The Debian
 151 Administrator's Handbook</a> books to Norwegian Bokmål.  To make a
 152 long story short, we ended up working on a Bokmål edition, and now the
 153 first rough translation is complete, thanks to the hard work of
 154 Ole-Erik Yrvin, Ingrid Yrvin, Allan Nordhøy and myself.  The first
 155 proof reading is almost done, and only the second and third proof
 156 reading remains.  We will also need to translate the 14 figures and
 157 create a book cover.  Once it is done we will publish the book on
 158 paper, as well as in PDF, ePub and possibly Mobi formats.</p>

 160 <p>The book itself originates as a manuscript on Google Docs, is
 161 downloaded as ODT from there and converted to Markdown using pandoc.
 162 The Markdown is modified by a script before is converted to DocBook
 163 using pandoc.  The DocBook is modified again using a script before it
 164 is used to create a Gettext POT file for translators.  The translated
 165 PO file is then combined with the earlier mentioned DocBook file to
 166 create a translated DocBook file, which finally is given to dblatex to
 167 create the final PDF.  The end result is a set of editions of the
 168 manuscript, one English and one for each of the translations.</p>

 171 <a href="https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/madewithcc/translation/">the
 172 Weblate web based translation system</a>.  Please have a look there

 272         <p>As my regular readers probably remember, the last year I published
 273 a French and Norwegian translation of the classic
 274 <a href="http://www.free-culture.cc/">Free Culture book</a> by the
 275 founder of the Creative Commons movement, Lawrence Lessig.  A bit less
 276 known is the fact that due to the way I created the translations,
 277 using docbook and po4a, I also recreated the English original.  And
 278 because I already had created a new the PDF edition, I published it
 279 too.  The revenue from the books are sent to the Creative Commons
 280 Corporation.  In other words, I do not earn any money from this
 281 project, I just earn the warm fuzzy feeling that the text is available
 282 for a wider audience and more people can learn why the Creative
 283 Commons is needed.</p>

 285 <p>Today, just for fun, I had a look at the sales number over at
 286 Lulu.com, which take care of payment, printing and shipping.  Much to
 287 my surprise, the English edition is selling better than both the
 288 French and Norwegian edition, despite the fact that it has been
 289 available in English since it was first published.  In total, 24 paper
 290 books was sold for USD $19.99 between 2016-01-01 and 2016-07-31:</p>

 300 stores like Amazon and Barnes&Noble.  Most revenue, around $10 per
 301 book, is sent to the Creative Commons project when the book is sold
 302 directly by Lulu.com.  The other channels give less revenue.  The
 303 summary from Lulu tell me 10 books was sold via the Amazon channel, 10
 304 via Ingram (what is this?) and 4 directly by Lulu.  And Lulu.com tells
 305 me that the revenue sent so far this year is USD $101.42.  No idea
 306 what kind of sales numbers to expect, so I do not know if that is a
 307 good amount of sales for a 10 year old book or not.  But it make me
 308 happy that the buyers find the book, and I hope they enjoy reading it
 309 as much as I did.</p>

 383 Culture</a> book by Lawrence Lessig is now available for sale on
 384 Lulu.com.  Once I have formally verified my proof reading copy, which
 385 should be in the mail, the paperback edition should be available in
 386 book stores like Amazon and Barnes & Noble too.</p>

 388 <p>This French edition, Culture Libre, is the work of the
 389 <a href="http://dblatex.sourceforge.net/">dblatex</a> developer Benoît
 390 Guillon, who created the PO file from the initial translation
 391 available from
 392 <a href="http://www.wikilivres.ca/wiki/Culture_libre">the Wikilivres
 393 wiki pages</a> and completed and corrected the translation to match
 394 the original docbook edition my project is using, as well as
 395 coordinated the proof reading of the final result.  I believe the end
 396 result look great, but I am biased and do not read French.  In
 397 addition to the paperback edition, the book is available in PDF, EPUB
 398 and Mobi format from the github project page linked to above.</p>

 400 <p>When enabling book store distribution on Lulu.com, I had to nearly
 401 triple the price to allow the book stores some profit.  I also had to
 402 accept that I will get some revenue when a book is sold via Lulu.com.
 403 But because of the non-commercial clause in the book license
 404 (CC-BY-NC), this might be a problem.  To bypass the problem I
 405 discussed how to handle the revenue with the author, and we agreed
 406 that the revenue for these editions go to the
 407 <a href="https://creativecommons.org/">Creative Commons non-profit
 408 Corporation</a> who handle donations to the Creative Commons project.
 409 So far they have earned around USD 70 on sales of the
 410 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/shop/lawrence-lessig/free-culture/paperback/product-22440520.html">English</a>
 411 and
 412 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/shop/lawrence-lessig/fri-kultur/paperback/product-22441576.html">Norwegian
 413 Bokmål</a> editions, according to Lulu.com.  They will get the revenue

 521 regulation and suggest some solutions.  I read the book back then and
 522 was very moved by it.  Reading the book inspired me and changed the
 523 way I looked on copyright law, and I would love it if more people

 526 <p>Because of this, I decided in the summer of 2012 to translate it to
 527 Norwegian Bokmål and publish it for those of my friends and family
 528 that prefer to read books in Norwegian.  I translated the book using
 529 docbook and a gettext PO file, and a byproduct of this process is a
 530 new edition of the English original.  I've been in touch with the
 531 author during by work, and he said it was fine with him if I also
 532 published an English version.  So I decided to do so.  Today, I made

 596 the translation to be integrated into the po4a based framework I use

 625         <p>Creating a good looking book cover proved harder than I expected.
 626 I wanted to create a cover looking similar to the original cover of

 628 <a href="https://github.com/petterreinholdtsen/free-culture-lessig">Free
 629 Culture</a> book we are translating to Norwegian, and I wanted it in
 630 vector format for high resolution printing.  But my inkscape knowledge
 631 were not nearly good enough to pull that off.

 633 <p>But thanks to the great inkscape community, I was able to wrap up
 634 the cover yesterday evening.  I asked on the
 635 <a href="irc://irc.freenode.net/%23inkscape">#inkscape IRC channel</a>
 636 on Freenode for help and clues, and Marc Jeanmougin (Mc-) volunteered
 637 to try to recreate it based on the PDF of the cover from the HTML
 638 version.  Not only did he create a
 639 <a href="https://marc.jeanmougin.fr/share/copy1.svg ">SVG document with
 640 the original and his vector version side by side</a>, he even provided
 641 an <a href="https://marc.jeanmougin.fr/share/out-1.ogv">instruction
 642 video</a> explaining how he did it</a>.  But the instruction video is
 643 not easy to follow for an untrained inkscape user. The video is a
 644 recording on how he did it, and he is obviously very experienced as
 645 the menu selections are very quick and he mentioned on IRC that he did
 646 use some keyboard shortcuts that can't be seen on the video, but it
 647 give a good idea about the inkscape operations to use to create the
 648 stripes with the embossed copyright sign in the center.</p>

 650 <p>I took his SVG file, copied the vector image and re-sized it to fit
 651 on the cover I was drawing.  I am happy with the end result, and the
 652 current english version look like this:</p>

 688         <p>Today, finally, my first printed draft edition of the Norwegian
 689 translation of Free Culture I have been working on for the last few
 690 years arrived in the mail.  I had to fake a cover to get the interior
 691 printed, and the exterior of the book look awful, but that is
 692 irrelevant at this point.  I asked for a printed pocket book version
 693 to get an idea about the font sizes and paper format as well as how
 694 good the figures and images look in print, but also to test what the
 695 pocket book version would look like.  After receiving the 500 page
 696 pocket book, it became obvious to me that that pocket book size is too
 697 small for this book.  I believe the book is too thick, and several
 698 tables and figures do not look good in the size they get with that
 699 small page sizes.  I believe I will go with the 5.5x8.5 inch size
 700 instead.  A surprise discovery from the paper version was how bad the
 701 URLs look in print.  They are very hard to read in the colophon page.
 702 The URLs are red in the PDF, but light gray on paper.  I need to
 703 change the color of links somehow to look better.  But there is a
 704 printed book in my hand, and it feels great. :)</p>

 706 <p>Now I only need to fix the cover, wrap up the postscript with the
 707 store behind the book, and collect the last corrections from the proof
 708 readers before the book is ready for proper printing.  Cover artists
 709 willing to work for free and create a Creative Commons licensed vector

 733 mostly done, and a volunteer proof reader was going to check the text
 734 on paper, it was time this summer to focus on formatting my translated

 736 <a href="http://free-culture.cc/">Free Culture</a> book by Lawrence
 737 Lessig.  I've been trying to get both docboox-xsl+fop and dblatex to
 738 give me a good looking PDF, but in the end I went with dblatex, because
 739 its Debian maintainer and upstream developer were responsive and very
 740 helpful in solving my formatting challenges.</p>

 742 <p>Last night, I finally managed to create a PDF that no longer made
 743 <a href="http://www.lulu.com/">Lulu.com</a> complain after uploading,
 744 and I ordered a text version of the book on paper.  It is lacking a
 745 proper book cover and is not tagged with the correct ISBN number, but
 746 should give me an idea what the finished book will look like.</p>

 748 <p>Instead of using Lulu, I did consider printing the book using
 749 <a href="http://www.createspace.com/">CreateSpace</a>, but ended up
 750 using Lulu because it had smaller book size options (CreateSpace seem
 751 to lack pocket book with extended distribution).  I looked for a
 752 similar service in Norway, but have not seen anything so far.  Please
 753 let me know if I am missing out on something here.</p>

 755 <p>But I still struggle to decide the book size.  Should I go for
 756 pocket book (4.25x6.875 inches / 10.8x17.5 cm) with 556 pages, Digest
 757 (5.5x8.5 inches / 14x21.6 cm) with 323 pages or US Trade (6x8 inches /
 758 15.3x22.9 cm) with 280 pages?  Fewer pager give a cheaper book, and a
 759 smaller book is easier to carry around.  The test book I ordered was
 760 pocket book sized, to give me an idea how well that fit in my hand,
 761 but I suspect I will end up using a digest sized book in the end to
 762 bring the prize down further.</p>

 764 <p>My biggest challenge at the moment is making nice cover art.  My
 765 inkscape skills are not yet up to the task of replicating the original
 766 cover in SVG format.  I also need to figure out what to write about
 767 the book on the back (will most likely use the same text as the
 768 description on web based book stores).  I would love help with this,
 769 if you are willing to license the art source and final version using
 770 the same CC license as the book.  My artistic skills are not really up
 771 to the task.</p>

 816 class file and add the LaTeX code there, but this is not always

 967 language of its users, and for this we need to handle translations.
 968 But we also want to make sure each language contain the same
 969 information, so for this we need a good way to keep the translations
 970 in sync.  And we want it to be easy for our users to improve the

 972 contribute, and the obvious way to do this is to make it possible to
 973 edit the documentation using a web browser.  We also want it to be
 974 easy for translators to keep the translation up to date, and give them
 975 help in figuring out what need to be translated. Here is the list of
 976 tools and the process we have found trying to reach all these
 977 goals.</p>

 979 <p>We maintain the authoritative source of our manual in the
 980 <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Documentation/Wheezy/">Debian
 981 wiki</a>, as several wiki pages written in English.  It consist of one
 982 front page with references to the different chapters, several pages
 983 for each chapter, and finally one "collection page" gluing all the
 984 chapters together into one large web page (aka
 985 <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Documentation/Wheezy/AllInOne">the
 986 AllInOne page</a>).  The AllInOne page is the one used for further
 987 processing and translations.  Thanks to the fact that the
 988 <a href="http://moinmo.in/">MoinMoin</a> installation on
 989 wiki.debian.org support exporting pages in
 990 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">the Docbook format</a>, we can fetch
 991 the list of pages to export using the raw version of the AllInOne
 992 page, loop over each of them to generate a Docbook XML version of the
 993 manual.  This process also download images and transform image
 994 references to use the locally downloaded images.  The generated
 995 Docbook XML files are slightly broken, so some post-processing is done
 996 using the <tt>documentation/scripts/get_manual</tt> program, and the
 997 result is a nice Docbook XML file (debian-edu-wheezy-manual.xml) and
 998 a handfull of images.  The XML file can now be used to generate PDF, HTML
 999 and epub versions of the English manual.  This is the basic step of
1000 our process, making PDF (using dblatex), HTML (using xsltproc) and
1001 epub (using dbtoepub) version from Docbook XML, and the resulting files
1002 are placed in the debian-edu-doc-en binary package.</p>

1004 <p>But English documentation is not enough for us.  We want translated
1005 documentation too, and we want to make it easy for translators to
1006 track the English original.  For this we use the
1007 <a href="http://packages.qa.debian.org/p/poxml.html">poxml</a> package,
1008 which allow us to transform the English Docbook XML file into a
1009 translation file (a .pot file), usable with the normal gettext based
1010 translation tools used by those translating free software.  The pot
1011 file is used to create and maintain translation files (several .po
1012 files), which the translations update with the native language
1013 translations of all titles, paragraphs and blocks of text in the
1014 original.  The next step is combining the original English Docbook XML
1015 and the translation file (say debian-edu-wheezy-manual.nb.po), to
1016 create a translated Docbook XML file (in this case
1017 debian-edu-wheezy-manual.nb.xml).  This translated (or partly
1018 translated, if the translation is not complete) Docbook XML file can
1019 then be used like the original to create a PDF, HTML and epub version
1020 of the documentation.</p>

1022 <p>The translators use different tools to edit the .po files.  We
1023 recommend using
1024 <a href="http://www.kde.org/applications/development/lokalize/">lokalize</a>,
1025 while some use emacs and vi, others can use web based editors like
1026 <a href="http://pootle.translatehouse.org/">Poodle</a> or
1027 <a href="https://www.transifex.com/">Transifex</a>.  All we care about
1028 is where the .po file end up, in our git repository.  Updated
1029 translations can either be committed directly to git, or submitted as
1030 <a href="https://bugs.debian.org/src:debian-edu-doc">bug reports
1031 against the debian-edu-doc package</a>.</p>

1033 <p>One challenge is images, which both might need to be translated (if
1034 they show translated user applications), and are needed in different
1035 formats when creating PDF and HTML versions (epub is a HTML version in
1036 this regard).  For this we transform the original PNG images to the
1037 needed density and format during build, and have a way to provide
1038 translated images by storing translated versions in
1039 images/$LANGUAGECODE/.  I am a bit unsure about the details here.  The
1040 package maintainers know more.</p>

1078         <p>It has been a while since my last update.  Since last summer, I
1079 have worked on a Norwegian
1080 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">docbook</a> version of the 2004 book
1081 <a href="http://free-culture.cc/">Free Culture</a> by Lawrence Lessig,
1082 to get a Norwegian text explaining the problems with the copyright
1083 law.  Yesterday, I finally broken the 90% mark, when counting the
1084 number of strings to translate.  Due to real life constraints, I have
1085 not had time to work on it since March, but when the summer broke out,
1086 I found time to work on it again.  Still lots of work left, but the
1087 first draft is nearing completion.  I created a graph to show the
1088 progress of the translation:</p>

1097 English docbook version with the paper version.  Last, the colophon
1098 page with ISBN numbers etc need to be wrapped up before the release is
1099 done.  I should also figure out how to get correct Norwegian sorting
1100 of the index pages.  All docbook tools I have tried so far (xmlto,
1101 docbook-xsl, dblatex) get the order of symbols and the special
1102 Norwegian letters ÆØÅ wrong.</p>

1104 <p>There is still need for translators and people with docbook
1105 knowledge, to be able to get a good looking book (I still struggle
1106 with dblatex, xmlto and docbook-xsl) as well as to do the draft
1107 translation and proof reading.  And I would like the figures to be
1108 redrawn as SVGs to make it easy to translate them.  Any SVG master
1109 around?  There are also some legal terms that are unfamiliar to me.

1255         <p>A few days ago, during a discussion in
1256 <a href="http://www.efn.no/">EFN</a> about interesting books to read
1257 about copyright and the data retention directive, a suggestion to read
1258 the 1968 short story Kodémus by
1259 <a href="http://web2.gyldendal.no/toraage/">Tore Åge Bringsværd</a>
1260 came up.  The text was only available in old paper books, and thus not
1261 easily available for current and future generations.  Some of the
1262 people participating in the discussion contacted the author, and
1263 reported back 2013-03-19 that the author was OK with releasing the
1264 short story using a <a href="http://www.creativecommons.org/">Creative
1265 Commons</a> license.  The text was quickly scanned and OCR-ed, and we
1266 were ready to start on the editing and typesetting.</p>

1268 <p>As I already had some experience formatting text in my project to
1269 provide a Norwegian version of the Free Culture book by Lawrence
1270 Lessig, I chipped in and set up a
1271 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">DocBook</a> processing framework to
1272 generate PDF, HTML and EPUB version of the short story.  The tools to
1273 transform DocBook to different formats are already in my Linux
1274 distribution of choice, <a href="http://www.debian.org/">Debian</a>, so
1275 all I had to do was to use the
1276 <a href="http://dblatex.sourceforge.net/">dblatex</a>,
1277 <a href="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/epub/README">dbtoepub</a>
1278 and <a href="https://fedorahosted.org/xmlto/">xmlto</a> tools to do the
1279 conversion.  After a few days, we decided to replace dblatex with
1280 xsltproc/fop (aka
1281 <a href="http://wiki.docbook.org/DocBookXslStylesheets">docbook-xsl</a>),
1282 to get the copyright information to show up in the PDF and to get a
1283 nicer &lt;variablelist&gt; typesetting, but that is just a minor
1284 technical detail.</p>

1286 <p>There were a few challenges, of course.  We want to typeset the
1287 short story to look like the original, and that require fairly good
1288 control over the layout.  The original short story have three
1289 parts/scenes separated by a single horizontally centred star (*), and
1290 the paragraphs do not contain only flowing text, but dialogs and text
1291 that started on a new line in the middle of the paragraph.</p>

1293 <p>I initially solved the first challenge by using a paragraph with a
1294 single star in it, ie &lt;para&gt;*&lt;/para&gt;, but it made sure a
1295 placeholder indicated where the scene shifted.  This did not look too
1296 good without the centring.  The next approach was to create a new
1297 preprocessor directive &lt;?newscene?&gt;, mapping to "&lt;hr/&gt;"
1298 for HTML and "&lt;fo:block text-align="center"&gt;&lt;fo:leader
1299 leader-pattern="rule" rule-thickness="0.5pt"/&gt;&lt;/fo:block&gt;"
1300 for FO/PDF output (did not try to implement this in dblatex, as we had

1442         <p>In my spare time, I currently work on a Norwegian
1443 <a href="http://www.docbook.org/">docbook</a> version of the 2004 book
1444 <a href="http://free-culture.cc/">Free Culture</a> by Lawrence Lessig,
1445 to get a Norwegian text explaining the problems with the copyright law
1446 I can give to my parents and others that are reluctant to read an
1447 English book.  It is a marvellous set of examples on how the ever
1448 expanding copyright regulations hurt culture and society.  When the
1449 translation is done, I hope to find funding to print and ship a copy
1450 to all the members of the Norwegian parliament, before they sit down
1451 to debate the latest revisions to the Norwegian copyright law.  This
1452 summer I
1453 <a href="http://people.skolelinux.org/pere/blog/Dugnad_for___sende_norsk_versjon_av_Free_Culture_til_stortingets_representanter_.html">called
1454 for volunteers</a> to help me, and I have been able to secure the
1455 valuable contribution from at least one other Norwegian.</p>

1457 <p>Two days ago, we finally broke the 50% mark.  Then more than 50% of
1458 the number of strings to translate (normally paragraphs, but also
1459 titles and index entries are also counted).  All parts from the
1460 beginning up to and including chapter four is translated.  So is
1461 chapters six, seven and the conclusion.  I created a graph to show the
1462 progress:</p>

1471 english version of the docbook source.</p>

1474 knowledge, to be able to get a good looking book (I still struggle
1475 with dblatex, xmlto and docbook-xsl) as well as to do the draft
1476 translation and proof reading.  And I would like the figures to be
1477 redrawn as SVGs to make it easy to translate them.  Any SVG master
1478 around?  I am sure there are some legal terms that are unfamiliar to

1512 the language used at the top, and the processing pipeline will use
1513 this information to pick the correct translations for 'chapter', 'see
1514 also', 'index' etc.  And for most languages used with docbook, I guess
1515 this work just fine.  For example a German user can start the document
1516 with &lt;book lang="de"&gt;, and the document will show up with the
1517 correct content with any of the docbook processors.  This is not the
1518 case for the language
1519 <a href="http://people.skolelinux.org/pere/blog/Free_Culture_in_Norwegian___5_chapters_done__74_percent_left_to_do.html">I
1520 am working with at the moment</a>, Norwegian Bokmål.</p>

1522 <p>For a while, I was confused about which language code to use,
1523 because I was unable to find any language code that would work across
1524 all tools.  I am currently testing dblatex, xmlto, docbook-xsl, and
1525 dbtoepub, and they do not handle Norwegian Bokmål the same way.  Some
1526 of them do not handle it at all.</p>

1528 <p>A bit of background information is probably needed to understand
1529 this mess.  Norwegian is not one, but two written variants.  The
1530 variants are Norwegian Nynorsk and Norwegian Bokmål.  There are three
1531 two letter language codes associated with these languages, Norwegian
1532 is 'no', Norwegian Nynorsk is 'nn' and Norwegian Bokmål is 'nb'.
1533 Historically the 'no' language code was used for Norwegian Bokmål, but
1534 many years ago this was found to be å bad idea, and the recommendation
1535 is to use the most specific language code instead, to avoid confusion.
1536 In the transition period it is a good idea to make sure 'no' was an
1537 alias for 'nb'.</p>

1539 <p>Back to docbook processing tools in Debian.  The dblatex tool only
1540 understand 'nn'.  There are translations for 'no', but not 'nb' (BTS
1541 <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/684391">#684391</a>), but due to a bug
1542 (BTS <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/682936">#682936</a>) the 'no'
1543 language code is not recognised.  The docbook-xsl tool chain only
1544 recognise 'nn' and 'nb', but not 'no'.  The xmlto tool only recognise
1545 'nn' and 'nb', but not 'no'.  The end result that there is no language
1546 code I can use to get the docbook file working with all of these tools
1547 at the same time. :(</p>

1770 fant fra Hans Schou.  Skolelinux har hatt byggesystem for å lage
1771 oversatt HTML og PDF-utgave av Docbook-bøker i en årrekke, så jeg har
1772 kopiert og utvidet dette oppsettet.  Originalteksten er i Docbook, og
1773 oversettelsen gjøres i .po-filer med hjelp av vanlige
1774 oversetterverktøy brukt i fri programvareverden.  Dernest tar
1775 byggesystemet over og lager PDF og EPUB-utgave av den oversatte
1776 teksten.  Resultatet kan ses i Github-prosjektet.  For å komme raskt
1777 igang har jeg brukt maskinoversettelse av alle tekstbitene fra engelsk
1778 til norsk, noe som grovoversatte ca. 1300 av de ca. 1700 tekstbitene
1779 boken består av.  Jeg håper nå at flere kan bidra med å få
1780 oversettelsen på plass, slik at teksten kan være klar i løpet av
1781 høsten.  Når alt er oversatt må teksten gjennomgås for feil og
1782 konsistent språk.  Totalt er det nok mange timer som trengs for å
1783 gjennomføre oversettelsen.</p>

1786 stortingsrepresentanter og nesten like mange varamedlemmer bør få
1787 bøker, og estimert produduksjonskostnad for hver bok er rundt 6 EURO i
1788 følge et raskt estimat fra Lulu.  Jeg vet ennå ikke hvor mange sider
1789 det blir i størrelsen 5,5" x 8.5" (det er ca. 140 sider i A4-format),
1790 så jeg gjettet på 400 sider.  Jeg tror originalutgaven har nesten 400
1791 sider.  For 169*2 eksemplarer snakker vi om en trykkekostnad på
1792 ca. 2000 EURO, dvs. ca 15 000 NOK.  Det burde være mulig å finne en
1793 sponsor for å dekke en slik sum.  I tillegg kommer distribusjon og
1794 porto, som antagelig kommer på like mye.</p>
